Bible for Seniors Privacy Policy
Effective date: 28th of June 2026
Bible for Seniors("we," "us," or "our") operates the Bible for Seniors mobile app (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Reading the Bible in the App is always free. Creating an account is optional. Some features, such as cloud sync and premium audio, use online services described below.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information (optional). If you choose to create an account, we may collect:
- Email address and password if you sign up with email.
- Name and email address if you sign in with Apple and choose to share them.
- Display name if you set one in the App.
- You may also use the App as a guest. In that case, we create an anonymous account identifier through our authentication provider so premium and audio features can work. This identifier is not linked to your name or email unless you later create a full account.
Reading and app preferences
To provide the App, we store settings and activity on your device, including:
- Bible translation, text size, reading comfort (theme), and Bible mode preferences
- Your last reading position
- Verses you save (including the verse reference and text)
- Chapters you mark as read and when you read them
- Daily verse reminder time, if you enable reminders
- Whether you have completed onboarding and similar in-app state
If you are signed in, reading progress, saved verses, and reading history may also be stored in our cloud database so you can access them across devices.
Subscription and purchase information
If you subscribe to Bible for Seniors Premium:
- Payment is processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not receive or store your credit card number or full payment details.
- To verify your subscription status, the App sends Apple-signed purchase information (such as transaction and renewal data) to our servers. We store subscription status and related details (for example, product type, expiry date, and whether auto-renewal is on) to enable premium features.
Premium audio
If you use premium audio narration:
- The App sends Bible text for the chapter or verses you request (translation, book, chapter, and verse range) to our servers so audio can be generated or retrieved.
- Our servers use a third-party text-to-speech provider (ElevenLabs) to create narration. The App does not contact ElevenLabs directly.
- We may record which user requested audio and usage counts to operate the service and apply fair-use limits.
- Generated audio is streamed to your device; we do not require you to upload voice recordings.
Region information
To determine which Bible translations are available in your region, the App reads your device's locale region code (for example, "US" or "GB"). This is not precise GPS location. If you are signed in, this region code may be stored with your account.
Support communications
If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send (such as your email address and message content) so we can respond.
Usage and analytics data
To understand how the App is used and to improve it, we collect analytics through third-party services:
- Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics 4). We receive aggregated information such as app opens, which screens and features you use, whether you complete onboarding, your device type and operating system version, approximate region, and general session metrics. This helps us improve the App. We do not use Firebase Analytics for advertising.
- Smartlook. We use session replay and interaction analytics (such as taps and navigation) to understand how people use the App and to fix usability issues. Recordings focus on in-app interactions, not on the Bible text you read.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide Bible reading, search, saved verses, and reading history
- Remember your preferences and reading progress
- Offer optional account sign-in and sync across devices
- Verify premium subscriptions and deliver premium audio
- Schedule local daily verse reminders at the time you choose
- Respond to support requests
- Maintain, protect, and improve the App
- Understand which features are used and whether onboarding is completed
- Diagnose issues and improve stability and usability (Firebase Analytics)
- Review session replays to improve the App experience (Smartlook)
We do not use your information for advertising or to sell your personal data.
Where Data Is Stored
- On your device. Most preferences and reading data are stored locally using your device's standard storage (UserDefaults).
- In the cloud (when online services are enabled). If you use account features, premium audio, or subscription verification, data is processed and stored using Google Firebase services (authentication, database, cloud functions, file storage, and analytics). Analytics event data is also processed through Google Firebase and Google Analytics infrastructure. Firebase may process data in the United States and other countries where its infrastructure operates.
- Analytics providers. Session replay and interaction data collected by Smartlook is processed in the European Union.
Bible text itself is included in the App and is not downloaded from our servers for ordinary reading. Search runs on your device only.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third parties to operate the App:
| Service | Purpose |
|---|
| Google Firebase | Anonymous and email/Apple sign-in, cloud database sync, server functions, file storage, and Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics 4) for understanding how the App is used (for example, which features are used and whether onboarding is completed). We do not use analytics for advertising. |
| Smartlook | Session replay and product analytics to help us improve the App experience. Recordings focus on in-app interactions, not on the Bible text you read. |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, App Store subscription billing, and purchase verification |
| ElevenLabs | Server-side text-to-speech for premium Bible audio (our servers send Bible text; the App does not send your voice) |
Each provider processes information according to its own privacy policy and terms. Apple's privacy information applies to purchases made through your Apple ID.
What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect or use:
- Precise GPS or location tracking
- Contacts, photos, or files from your device
- Microphone recordings (audio playback uses your speaker only; we do not record you)
- Camera images
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking for ads
We use Firebase Analytics and Smartlook to measure app usage and improve the product, as described above. We do not show advertisements in the App.
Local Notifications
If you enable a daily verse reminder, the App asks for permission to send local notifications on your device. Reminders are scheduled on your phone or tablet and are not sent from a remote push notification service. You can turn reminders off or change the time in App settings, or disable notifications for the App in your device settings.
Data Retention and Deletion
- Local data remains on your device until you change it, delete the App, or clear the App's data.
- Cloud data is kept while your account exists and as needed to provide the service.
- Account deletion. If you delete your account in the App, we delete your cloud account data and authentication record. Local data on your device is also cleared as part of that process. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription; you must manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID settings.
Your Choices
You can:
- Use the App without creating a full account (guest use)
- Choose not to sign in with Apple or not to share your name or email with us
- Use the App without enabling notifications
- Manage or cancel a premium subscription in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device, or Apple's subscription management page)
- Delete your account from the App's account settings, if available
If you are in a region that provides additional privacy rights (such as access, correction, or deletion), you may contact us using the email below. We will respond as required by applicable law.
Children's Privacy
The App is designed for adults and seniors. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Users
If you use the App from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your country.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy and change the effective date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
